Let me fall if I must. The one I will become will catch me.

A few weeks ago, a close friend left her job.
It was a good job. Well-paid, stable, the kind you’re not “supposed” to leave.
But she did. Not because she had something better lined up. Not because she had figured out what to do next.
She left because, one morning, she looked at herself in the mirror and thought: “I can’t keep doing this.”
No big drama. No crisis. Just a quiet, growing discomfort that had become impossible to ignore.
We spoke the day after she resigned.
She was calm. Not euphoric, not panicked, just calm. She told me: “I don’t know where I’m going, but I know I don’t want to stay where I was.”
That sentence stayed with me.
Because we’re taught to only move when we have a plan. To wait for certainty. For guarantees. But life rarely works that way.
Most of the time, we act with partial information, mixed feelings, and a bit of fear. And still, somehow, we move.
And yes, there’s always the risk that things won’t go as expected. But what if that’s not failure? What if that’s just part of the becoming?
My friend is still figuring things out. Some days are tough. But she doesn’t regret her choice. Because now, she’s building something that looks more like her.
Maybe the fall is not the danger. Maybe the danger is staying stuck in a life that no longer feels like yours.
We don’t always need to know what’s next. Sometimes we just need the courage to take one honest step, and trust that the person we’re becoming will be strong enough to catch us.

If you trusted that the person you're becoming will know what to do, what might become possible?
